Frequently Asked Questions

How long does air freight take from China or Asia to the UK?

Express (Next Flight Out) services can deliver in 2–3 days. Priority air freight typically takes 3–5 days airport-to-airport, with door-to-door transit around 4–6 days including UK customs clearance. Economy consolidated air cargo runs 5–8 days. Transit times depend on the origin airport and the frequency of direct services.

Air freight is charged on either the actual weight or the volumetric (chargeable) weight — whichever is greater. Volumetric weight is calculated as: Length × Width × Height (cm) ÷ 6,000. Light but bulky cargo often ends up being charged on volumetric weight. We’ll give you a full breakdown in your quote so there are no surprises.
Airport-to-airport means we handle the flight booking and cargo handling, but you or your supplier arrange collection at origin and you arrange customs clearance and delivery at the UK end. Door-to-door is fully managed — we collect from your supplier, handle export clearance at origin, fly the cargo, handle UK customs clearance, and deliver to your premises. Most of our customers choose door-to-door for simplicity.
Yes, but these require specific IATA-compliant packaging, correct UN markings, and accurate dangerous goods declarations. Lithium battery regulations (Section I, Section II, and PI 965–970) are strictly enforced by airlines. Our team handles the required documentation and ensures compliance so your shipment isn’t rejected at the airport.
Air freight is the right choice when speed matters more than cost — urgent restocking, seasonal merchandise with a hard launch date, high-value goods where the carrying cost of stock in transit is significant, or perishable/time-sensitive cargo. For heavier or bulky cargo with flexible lead times, sea freight is usually far more cost-effective.
Cargo insurance is not automatically included in the freight rate, though airlines carry a limited liability under the Montreal Convention (approximately SDR 22/kg). We strongly recommend arranging all-risk cargo insurance, especially for high-value shipments. We can arrange cover as part of your shipment — just let us know when requesting a quote.
